We’d like to invite our readers to suggest potential Halloween costumes for Trixie. Remember, we like original ideas; we don’t want Trixie to have the same costume as that baby down the street. Leave your suggestions in a comment, and we’ll turn the best ideas into a poll.
*UPDATE: I want people to know that the costume doesn’t necessarily have to stop at Trixie. Because she can’t walk yet, or even crawl, we will be carrying her one way or another.
For example, she now faces forward when strapped to my chest, so one costume possibility could be for Trixie to go as a squirrel coming out of a hole in a tree, with me dressed as the tree. Similarly, I had an idea to dress up her car carrier with all its harnesses as a space capsule and she could be Valentina Tereshkova, but the carrier is way too heavy to carry around the whole night.

Auntie Shannon and I go way back to kindygarten, and here I am keeping up with this crazy kid. I love this site!
Anyway, I always thought a sock puppet would be an awesome costume. It’s cute, it’s different… I would be a sock puppet myself, but I’m a bit taller than Trixie, I think, and it would take some work. Or curl her up in a ball and make a little Pac-Man out of her (or Ms Pac-Man if you’re so inclined.) Or get geeky and make her Pac-Man Junior if you recall that little guy…

I’m a good friend of Ben Schaffer’s from Bard College and I just love checking up on Trixie. After mentally screening out all the cutsey ideas for baby halloween costumes I’ve come up with the idea of dressing Trixie up as a superhero of your choice. Maybe Superman or even Batbaby! Or maybe you could customize a superhero costume to Trixies own personaliy. Like the Vominater. Eh? Beat that! That would be the cutest.

I like the idea of a costume that requires all three of you to complete. However, I am having trouble coming up with any. Maybe you could dress up as two people playing basketball. Or two struggling fisherman with a live one on the line.
Or, how about this, three different-sized matryoshka dolls: Tereshkova, Gagarin, and Korolev. This seems appropriate since Trixie was until recently herself part of a nesting pair.

Along the lines of having Trixie attached to you, but not making it such a heavy costume, you could dress up as “static cling.” Of course, not only would Trixie be clingy on you, but you could each be covered in baby socks, singlets, t-shirts, washrags, etc. You could use safety pins or small stitches to make everything stick.

Here’s the leftovers from my brainstorming, although I am still partial to your Total Recall Quato idea:
worm and apple, pea and peapod, Alien and host, Jack Hanna and random baby animal, Roy Horn and baby white tiger (possibly tasteless), spider and fly, football players and football, Earth and Moon (difficulty 9+), baby and bathtub, shopper and grocery bag, chicken(s) and egg, bomb squad and bomb, coins, Abe Lincoln Mary Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth (trixie as abe), the Three Amigos, Rush, family of racoons, 3 Elvi, H20 molecule, knobs and faucet, mailman and package, butcher and steak……….

Unfortunately, our baby had to wear a generic pea-in-the-pod costume her 1st H-ween b/c my mom got it for her - so I relish the vicarious thrill of trying to think of an original costume for Trixie. Lots of good ideas already. I was thinking of something w/a poop theme. Maybe have her wear as many diapers as she’s dirtied (I realize she’d be invisible beneath them all, but you could don some as well). And she could wear some devil ears so people would know about the evil that lurks beneath her innocent exterior. I also like the squirrel and tree idea, which is very appropriate for Glen Lennox.

A baby gecko and her mama and papa gecko. I don’t know if I have the spelling right but I think you know what I mean!
