Sorry that posting has been light lately. We are currently trying to move Trixie from our bed to her crib, or solitary, as I like to call it. This has not been an easy sell. Our bed is nice and warm, her crib unfamiliar. Putting her to sleep is as tricky as defusing a bomb; everyone whispers, there are no sudden movements and if something goes wrong there’s a lot of screaming.
However, there is a larger problem than the sleeplessness and extra 4 hours it takes to put her to sleep. The problem, as it relates to the Trixie Update, is that my graphics computer is in the nursery/office. I belatedly recognize that this was a poor apartment layout decision.
Up until now, the site graphics — including the Picture of the Day — were done when I had a free minute, which invariably was when Trixie was asleep. Unfortunately, now I can’t do anything when Trixie is asleep because I can’t get near the computer without her waking up. Needless to say, we are aware of the problem, and are currently trying to figure out a way to fix it. Thanks for your patience.

We want to thank our readers for making last week’s special milk presentation a success. Site traffic was at a new high — thanks for spreading the word! Special appreciation goes out to ‘Schaff’ and ‘Hannah’ for their witty and impassioned contributions to the comments board. We at TTU hope you enjoyed the series and look forward to bringing more in-depth reporting in the future.

As previously reported in the Picture of the Day, we had a last-minute inspiration to dress Trixie up as a “Monster B-Movie Poster.” A giant radioactive Trixie looms over the city, demolishing buildings as the Army tries to take her down.
We didn’t go trick-or-treating this year. She’s too young to eat anything, and I feel that I’m at the age and position in my life where if I want some candy, I can just go to store rather than stumble around the neighborhood in the dark begging from door to door. However, we did get to showcase the Atomic Baby for friends at a fun costume party.
Here are a few more pictures of the costume, including detail shots of the Army desperately trying to hold the line:

“Attack of the Atomic Baby!”

From left: Trixie prepares to level the city, Trixie stomping unfortunate soldiers into the ground.

Clockwise from top left: Bazookas deployed, storming the perimeter, waiting for the threat to emerge from behind the cloud of dust and smoke, and sniper taking aim.
As with any project, I wish there had been a little more time to totally finish the details. There really needs to be a couple of tanks or a howitzer, and maybe some crushed cars. If she had been a little older, I would have made a city bus that she could shake around like a rattle. Still, it was fun to make and Trixie liked towering over everything, so we consider it a pretty good Halloween.
