We’re taking a break from stories for this month (and maybe a week or so beyond.) But there will still be new TPODs (at least 5 days a week). September will be a good time to pick up the pace again.
So what do you have to look forward to in the new fall season? We’ve got some great story lines coming up. Here’s one — and this is pretty funny — Trixie is allergic to eggs. Can’t you just picture all the wacky misadventures that ensue? Like just last Saturday, when she vomited repeatedly all over her crib, stuffed animals and the rug. Boy - that was some crazy stuff. Or how it took her dense parents like 3 episodes over the past 4 months to finally figure out that the eggs were causing the vomiting? Sorry about that Trixie!! I still have egg on my face over that one!
Hopefully there will be more hijinks and less vomiting, but I have to work with what I’m given. Just thought I’d let you guys know what to expect.

After I mentioned cards in today’s TPOD comments, I realized I hadn’t posted this incident yet. I don’t know if she was trying to destroy a bad hand or just marking the cards to help with counting. Either way, I wouldn’t play a game with her if money was involved.

If you live in/near Santa Barbara, you might be able to hear a Trixie Update radio interview 6:30am tomorrow morning on the 99.9 KTYD Morning Show. I’ve never done one of these before, so I’m just hoping I don’t choke.
UPDATE [6:43]: We’re on!….
[6:52] And we’re clear!
I’d like to thank Matt, Julie, Hayseed, and Kristin for having me on their show this morning. It was a lot of fun, and I’m happy to report that there was no choking.

I was amazed at how fast babies grow back during the first month, and I remain amazed today. Even though that remarkable growth quickly tapered off and stabilized to a smooth curve, it’s still astounding to me.
Trixie almost tripled her birth weight over the past year. That’s not something you or I would want to attempt. (It would put me at around 550 lbs.) And she increased her height by 50%, which worked out to almost an inch per month. Who hasn’t wanted to be an inch or two taller? But 10.25″? That’s pretty crazy.
All along she has been in the 50th percentile for weight and toward the top end (80%-95%) for height. Here’s a look at the numbers:

I’m getting really sick of having to post these notes about the site’s technical problems. Longtime readers are sick of them too, I’m sure.
Most of the problems stemmed from growing pains, which we’re constantly trying to address. Yesterday’s problem was totally the fault of my hosting company. They made a huge mistake and I apologize for their bad service. So why don’t I switch providers? At this point I am pouring so much work into other projects that I don’t even have the time to research other providers, nor do I want to mess with the headache of migrating the site. Basically I intend to move the site to another provider, but until I get a couple of free days, I’m just keeping my fingers crossed. Just thought I would lay out the situation if anyone wanted to know the details. thanks for sticking with us.
BTW, everything is working again.

Sorry I gave you guys a scare. I know I should have given more warning before I tried to close the site down, but I was all ready to swap her for a PlayStation. No, really — It would have been fun! I was going to post my scores on the web and write about how I wasn’t getting any sleep because I was playing games until 4 in the morning.
Anyway, for now we’ll keep on talking about babies. And speaking of which, we had the one-year checkup today so there should be some weight/height charts up soon. We also got the OK to turn off the milk! Trixie is going 100% bovine. And that means that sometime in the next week I will be turning off the Bottle Telemetry. Daily milk intake is becoming less and less important relative to her expanding diet and there’s not much reason to track it anymore.
Lastly, this week is going to be a little slow story-wise, but there will be birthday-themed TPODs (with commentary) running at least through Friday.
