A quick note regarding emails sent to me about the site or babies or whatever: I respond to every email that comes in — usually within a day, but often much quicker.
The reason I mention this is that I suspect some of the emails I send out might not be getting through because of aggressive email filtering. So remember, if you write me, make sure your spam filtering isn’t keeping emails from trixieupdate.com from getting to your inbox.
If you have already written me and think you didn’t get a response, re-send your email and I’ll re-send mine. And as always, thanks for writing!

Mail I was exchanging earlier this year with a college friend got filtered because we turned to the circumcision question (my first son/second child, his second son) and the magic word penis tipped us into the danger zone.
It’s a sad state of affairs.

Yeah, but the important question is, did you get my CHECK?
Hm. No link yet. I’ll take that as a “no”.

Hey Zero, thanks for the reminder — you should have been linked a while ago.

Ben -
I wanted to say how much I enjoy your site. I just discovered you a month ago and read all your postings in one day. I couldn’t stop until I was caught up. Now I check in every day.
My daughter, Bronagh, is four months old. She’s my first. Your site has helped relieve some of my new-baby, first-baby anxiety. I love it. You are a wonderful writer.
Thanks so much.

Hi Ben,
A friend of mine recommended that I look at your site and I’m addicted. I have twin girls who were born on July 30, 2003 - one day older than Trixie! It’s so much fun watching her as I watch my girls. The one thing I wanted to ask is have you taken her off bottles completely? If so, how? I looked on your site and haven’t seen any helpful hints. Anyone out there have any words of wisdom? Talk about a difficult process - I did it cold turkey and they hate their sippy cups. They haven’t been drinking very much - milk sippys are often thrown to the ground. Anyway, I thought I would ask…
Thanks!

J and J’s mom -
When I was trying to get my daughter off the bottle, I found that she preferred some brands of sippy cups much more than others - I think she finally liked the Avent ones w/the soft spout and then I kind of moved her onto less expensive, less pain-in-the-ass ones once she got more accustomed to the concept. But I tried many different brands in this quest. Also, my other advice is to not worry too much about letting them use the bottle if it’s stressing you out that they don’t drink their milk. Chances are, they’ll give up the bottle on their own eventually - probably won’t take it to kindergarten. No harm no foul, I say.

Bronagh’s Mom:
Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m always glad to hear that the site has been helpful. Good luck!
J and J’s Mom:
Yes, Trixie is completely off the bottle. We dived right into it at about 12 months and she took to it pretty well. We had a slight relapse last month (at 13 months) when she got sick and we were concerned about her fluid intake.
I’ve been meaning to write something about this as a part of the bottle log wrap-up, but I’m behind. However, quick advice: I found it easier to introduce the sippy cups when her resistance was low. I would give her a sippy cup first thing in the morning when she was still sleepy, agreeable and thirsty. But once she was awake she wanted a bottle. If I recall, this took a couple of weeks.
Hannah’s advice is golden. We tried at least 4 different cups before she got comfortable. I hope this helps a little. Good luck.

Hi Ben
I just stumbled upon your blog by chance. I started one recently because I am currently in the midst of trying to get rid of the bottle and I am afraid its not working very well. THe log is there to remind me “dont get soft - just do it” . Like to read all the comments however. I am hoping this playschool thingie will work my daughter. Incidentally - her name is Nushi.

I’m trying to keep myself occupied today as it’s my due date with my first child, and no kid yet. So I’ve got to ask.. How progress going with the Trixietracker? I’d love to beta test once it’s up, but haven’t read anything new about it for a while.
Thanks,
Ali

Hi Ali,
Congratulations! We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you. Unfortunately, we’re a little behind with Trixie Tracker, but we are making real progress on getting the beta ready to go. I’ll post more about this soon-
