It sounds like I broke something in the page layout when I was ‘fixing’ the site this week. A couple of people have now told me the alignment is off on the top story. I’m trying to fix it, but in the meantime, any extra details are welcome. thanks-

Looks fine in my browser - Mozilla Firefox on a PC w/ Windows XP.

Ben–I will try to explain what I see, and hopefully that will help–although I don’t know if how I explain this will come across clearly to you!

The section for Latest TTU Comments seems to be overlapping some of most recent stories. I didn’t see the problem until you posted the story titled Welcome MSNBC Countdown Viewers.

Once people began to comment, the story title appeared in the Latest TTU Comments section like this:

    ‘Welcome MSNBC
    Countdown…’ (34 min ago)

This title is many characters wider than some of the other titles in this section, and consequently the whole Latest TTU Comments section is then wider, and so it seems to overlap whatever is directly to the right of it. When there wasn’t a title/time in this section that had as many characters there was no problem.

I think you are hearing about this now because it is hard to read current stories, but this is also the case for the title Birth Announcement as well as whenever there is an active poll–It just never really bothered me before as these overlapped older stories which I had already read.

Hope this helps you to understand what we are seeing!

JenAlam: Thank you very much. That helps a lot. I thought I fixed that problem a while back, but I guess not for all browsers. Could you let me know what browser and operating system you’re using? thanks:)

I’m with the Mozilla crowd; looks fine to me. But, Ben, haven’t you learned from all those evil guys in the James Bond movies: pushing the red button never works exactly the way you think it will.

Yes, I don’t think any Firefox people are going to have the problem because I design the site for that browser. But I still want it to look nice for those who haven’t switched to Firefox yet.

BTW, looking for a good reason to switch browsers?

Oh yeah, it’s free too. :)

Yay to you for designing for Firefox. And BTW, it’s always looked fine on Safari/Mac OSX.

Yes, Firefox rocks. Definitely an improvement over IE. Though I can’t compare it to Safari, b/c I refuse to pay to upgrade the OS for my Mac at home, since I rarely use it anymore.

Looks fine in IE 5.2 for Mac OSx too.
