Ahhh...that's more like it. :-) Did Trixie enjoy this meal as much, though? Posted by: Kelli at June 22, 2004 09:21 AM

Those baby carrots steamed till mushy make great minimal-prep and minimal-mess finger foods. Yogurt is messy but healthy so I just slip a couple tablespoons into G's bottle and shake. So far he shows no signs of being onto me. Posted by: Leslie at June 22, 2004 05:28 PM

Hello, Ben & Jen: I'm a Kim Komando reader who is enjoying your well done site--and your frustrations. :) I have 3 suggestions for even less mess: 1)put newspapers under the highchair, roll up, throw away the mess. 2)Put little bits on the tray at a time so when your little pixie, Trixie, is full there is less to play with. 3) Get a dog (preferably one that is housebroken, since you already are busy in that area.) :) It is apparent that you love your adorable baby. Don't apologize. Don't explain.

My daughter went through the same phase. Try waffles and pancakes with a little syrup (very little) for breakfast. Easy for her to pick up and feed to herself. Mac-n-Cheese is also a good self feed kind of food. You also might try giving her a plastic baby spoon or fork to start using. My daughter thought that was the best. Good luck!
