Resistance
I was trying to get her to walk. Instead she stood her ground, whipping her blanket around and hollering. (Side note: the walking thing still isn't happening. She took a few more steps yesterday, but it's still a total novelty.)Photo taken July 1st, 2004. | |

I can imagine her saying "ROAARRR". Great action shot! Posted by: Gosia at July 2, 2004 06:43 AM

I am so pleased to see that another family with a baby has electric cords running all over the house too. Despite our most valiant efforts at baby-proofing, these cords seem to elude us. Unfortunately they rarely elude Graham who thinks they are GREAT toys (bonus for ones connected to computers, cell phones and the tv)). Hope Trixie is better at not noticing them. I know this isn't the sort of thing that most baby books recommend, but as soon as Trixie expressed an interest in electrical cords, I gave her an unplugged extension cord to play with. After a day or so of obsessing over it, she lost complete interest and could care less to this day. This was also before she had teeth so there wasn't any danger of her biting through it. It worked out pretty well. However she's still obsessed with the wall outlets, and I haven't figured out a way around that yet. Posted by: benmac at July 2, 2004 02:20 PM

I think this is one of my favorite TPODs yet. It ranks right up there with "Always Bite Back" (1/8/04) and "What are you looking at?" (11/2/03). Posted by: Amanda at July 2, 2004 03:34 PM

Electrical outlet protection. I'm sure you can get them at your local baby store. I found them online at Babies'R'US and Amazon.com. Friends of ours gave us some now that their children are older. No need for us to have them, yet, but I plugged them in already (didn't know where else to store them). They make the outlets look a little better - no open sockets. I suppose they keep the dust out, too. You don't want Trixie sticking ANYTHING into those outlets, unless you want her to have curly hair and you don't mind losing your hearing for a while!
