Finally got cold enough
And Trixie was able to wear her new coat, first seen in this Baltimore TPOD. And because I know someone will want to know: 1) it's from H&M 2) we spent way too much for it.

Ya know, kids clothes are so expensive. We have lots of second hand/consignment shops here where the clothes are like new and some still have tags on them. BUT when you see a fantastically wonderful item such as Trixie's coat...well, ya gotta just suck it up and do it! By the time she grows up, this style will be back in and she can show her kids how 'cool' she was as a kid (and also, how cool gramma and granpa were!) I had one similar to this as a little one (mine was black with black and white fur--it also came with a "muff" to put my hands into. It had a yarn string that went around my neck). I still remember the fur and how it felt on my hands and face. She will remember hers too. Posted by: kim at November 28, 2004 08:43 AM

awesome coat! I want one like it, but I can't afford it. Lucky lil brat. Just kidding she can't be a brat she looks so dang cute! You think you spent too much on her coat now, wait till shes older and starts asking you for cash to buy all the latest fashions.... that is coming soon I am sure of it. You taught her to have good taste now so shes gonna want all the hottest stuff later. But hey, at least you'll have a nicely dressed kid right? Posted by: Nina at November 28, 2004 09:56 PM

Yep. that's the one. We paid $35 at H&M, and got the larger size so that she can wear it next year too. It's pretty big on her right now. Posted by: benmac at November 29, 2004 07:49 PM

Grrrr... Okay, I'm a copycat; I admit it. I went online and bought the same coat for Rachel. I was so excited. I should have thought it through a bit, though. (1) HolyWife doesn't follow along with Trixie, so had no idea how cool and celebrity-imitating it would be for Rachel to wear it. She doesn't like it. (2) Rachel won't even put it on. I blame my Wife for somehow communicating in secret girl telepathy that she (Wife) doesn't like the coat, so she (Daughter) shouldn't either. (3) Anybody want to buy a coat? Seriously, if I can't get Rachel to wear it, I think it's going on eBay. --FrumDad Posted by: FrumDad at December 16, 2004 06:59 PM

Don't feel so bad Benmac, I just followed the ebay link. It sold for $43... Just think, you could buy a cool [insert coat/dress/accessory here] and show it off on TTU, then, when demand has reached a fever pitch, auction it off on ebay. Trixie's college fund--all taken care of ;) Posted by: Abbycat at March 3, 2005 09:30 AM

Abbycat: Thanks for looking up that auction. That does make us feel better! Posted by: benmac at March 3, 2005 10:51 PM

How is $35 expensive for a coat? I'm not rich, but that isn't a lot of money for something that gets worn a lot. Posted by: Trina at April 8, 2005 08:02 PM

I am guessing you don't have kids, Trina? Thirty-five dollars is a lot of money to spend on something that your kid could very well outgrow in a month. You never know with kids. Posted by: Bethany at November 28, 2005 02:23 AM
