The kid ain't right
I walk into Trixie's room yesterday morning after hearing her getting frustrated and discover her pinning down 'Baby' and trying to cram a plastic goldfish in her mouth. There are so many things wrong with this picture I don't know where to begin, but I want to point out that, I swear, she did not learn this by watching me.Photo taken December 13th, 2004. | |

Maybe Trixie is trying to tell you she would like to try sushi. She might like it! Posted by: nina at December 14, 2004 12:17 AM

seriously, it took me five minutes to convince myself that the fish was plastic, even after reading and re-reading "plastic goldfish". the fact that trix's fingers are wet further underlined my first impression. can you imagine if the fish...were....real? *shiver* now the picture is hilarious, but at first... :) Posted by: kat at December 14, 2004 10:14 AM

This pic made me laugh out loud at my desk. That thumbnail is so grotesque that it belies your promise that you didn't teach Trixie her disturbing behavior - maybe you didn't teach her to cram slimy goldfish down baby's throat, per se, but in a more general sense, the demented sensibility is, well . . . shall we just say the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree? Kat, I'm still not convinced the "doll" isn't real, too. And yes, that is the vilest thumbnail yet produced on this site. I couldn't even begin to imagine what it was! Posted by: DavidNYC at December 14, 2004 02:15 PM

Ben, do you wander around the house with the camera around your neck? Posted by: Ann at December 14, 2004 05:33 PM

In this case, Trixie was so focused and intent on forcing Baby to eat the fish, that I had time to go get the camera, have a small snack, come back and take the shot. However, to be fair, we have a small apartment and the camera is never more than about 15' away. Posted by: benmac at December 14, 2004 07:13 PM

that is the most disturbing tpod yet. i'm reminded of the quote from "When Harry Met Sally" about "baby fish mouth." Posted by: dsp at December 14, 2004 08:15 PM

If you're local, I got them at Morgan Imports in Durham, however I know they can be found in novelty or toy stores. They cost about 50 cents and are usually in bins next to wind-up toys, bouncey balls etc. Posted by: benmac at December 15, 2004 01:54 PM
