I know its not a great pic to go by but I think Trixie might look like her mommy. Am I right? Who does she take after?

I've been thinking the same thing for a while, Nina--and what a pretty mommy to look like!

Hi, I'm Julie. I'm from France and it's the first time I post a comment on your site tho I discovered it a couple of months ago. I must say that I'm totally addicted to it now, I check the new TPOD every morning before heading to university, and it truly makes my day!
Trixie is a real cutie pie & your site is fantastic, Ben!

Anyway, I have to agree w/ Nina and Rae, my mom and I also think that Trixie looks like her Mommy -and what a beautiful Mommy!!!

Also Ben, could you, someday soon, let us hear Trixie's voice?
(btw, sorry for my English....)

Let me chime in here, as Ben will probably be too modest or sarcastic. Trixie is easy on the eyes b/c she's got two good-looking parents. (and this is not always true of good-looking children - my daughter being a case in point). When Trixie was a little baby she looked exactly like Ben, I thought. To the point of it being creepy, she was a mini-me of Ben. But as she got older, she started looking more Jenn-like. And now I think she really does look like both of them. And yes, her mommy is just plain hot. Interested to hear what others who see these folks IRL life think re: who Trixie looks like. Or, as we say here in the South, who she "favors" (pronounced fayvahs).

Is it me or does Jenn bear a STRIKING resemblance to Jennifer Grey in this pic? (nobody puts Baby in the corner)

i second hannah, trixies parents are pretty much total hotness. i do think jenn looks like baby in this pic (youre right johnny, NOBODY puts baby in a corner). what do you all think about jenn in the tpod from november 23rd, 2003? when i saw that picture i almost fell out of my chair. jenn looks exactly like franka potente! you know from run lola run and bourne identity. holy cow!!

aaahh, i just looked at that tpod again. they look so full of youth and healthy vigor, safe from BIDS. but then what would we ever do if there was no trixie???

"....but then what would we ever do if there was no trixie???"

My sentiments exactly! Trixie & Company has brought so much joy (and an occasional tear here & there) into my life. Until I have my own, Trixie is happily keeping me "kidless." (Hope Ben & Jenn don't mind.) Although, I must admit, I've had more than one occasion since I started reading TTU to 2nd guess my decision to become a parent! I just don't know how ya'll do it!

i think newborns secret some sort of ultra fine, brain altering mist that effects the parents in their weakened state after the trauma of labor. maybe it is when the umbilical cord is cut, it just shoots out the innocuous, invisible cloud causing the parents to immediately bend to it's will.

You guys are way too sweet. You know, it's hard to feel hot when you're working all day or taking care of a crazy toddler. We appreciate all the nice comments.

It's too bad we don't have comments from Mommy Jen more often...
Anyway, we are not 'way too sweet', we are just realistic, so be flattered ;o)

This talk about who Trixie looks more like reminds me of something I learned in an Evolutionary Psychology class that I just had to share. When a baby is born, one of the most common responses people have is "S/he looks just like his/her dad!!!" Apparently people say this much more than they say that the baby looks like the mom.

According to evolutionary psych theory, this is because people instinctively know that the dad needs to be reassured that the baby is his. The mom already knows without a doubt that the baby is hers, but the dad could possibly have some doubt in his mind that the baby is his, so people instinctively reassure him (not that they're conscious of WHY they feel such a need to reassure him).

I recall also that newborns do tend to look more like their dads when they are first born and over time they may change to look more like the mom or both parents. There is a theory that we have evolved this way because this reassures the dad right from the start that the baby is his.

Up until recently, paternity tests didn't exist, so we apparently evolved this way to put the dad at ease. This is all just theory, of course... just fun to ponder.

Now it seems that Maury Povich is the one to go to if a dad has any doubt that he's the daddy. :) It's interesting that a whole talk show has been devoted to finding out who the REAL dad is. Not that I want to watch it though... ugh! :)

I feel obligated to chime in that the tendency of newborns to look like their fathers has been noted in the Talmud as well. The explanation given is all religious-like, so I'll skip it here.

And, Haeshu, you may be right about the fine mist of feel-goodness. Just don't call the Vulcan a "mutinous, disloyal, computerized, half-breed," and everything will be fine.

PS: I have to admit I searched for the exact phrase Kirk used, because I could only think of, "Mind your own business, Spock. I'm sick of
your half-breed interference!"

As for Trixie looking like Ben as a newborn, then evolving into a mixture, my daughter Sabrina was the same way Her newborn pic was a near clone to her father's. Now, at 7 months, she's looking more like me. I imagine it's some natural selection thing for babies to look like their father's at birth, so the males would recognize them as their young.

I think Trixie totally looks like Mommy Jen in this pic.

I mean, look at Jen's eyes and her hair color... Doesn't it remind you of someone ?!

I've always looked my dad, as a newborn up till now. Well from his side of the family anyway, they use to say I looked like my uncle, my dads bro then my dad's sis and my dads father, I just look like all of them.
