We hit the NC Zoo again over the weekend. Trixie's favorite part was the underwater observation at the polar bear habitat. The bear kept swimming right up to the glass and bursting out of the water. She was in awe/terror/elation all at the same time. BTW, sorry things are slow on the site. I'm upgrading computers at home, and there have been better days.

Good timing with the shot there. The underwater observation is always my favorite part of the zoo, too.

Ooh, that's freaky. How does the glass hold up? I'm always paranoid about those things - a ridiculous phobia I know - but eep!

Don't worry Laura...I get scared of the aquarium just because I'm afraid the glass is going to bust and all those fish are gonna go everywhere! Especially the sharks and the dngerous fish that is! I know it's super thick glass but you never know!

Looks like Trixie enjoyed the polar bear exhibit. This one seems quite active - all of the polar bears I've seen are just laying around (up above). I like the under water perspective.

I can picture Trixie putting/smashing her face & hands up against the glass...like in the OYAT picture! (Ya gotta wonder what the animals think of all those kids staring at them like that!)

Interesting compare and contrast of the polar bear photo, and the photo from a year ago today. A kind of who's who on which side of the glass.

ha! that's funny, this is the first time i've visited the site in a little while and me and my husband took the little man to the zoo this weekend too--we have almost the exact same shot of the polar bear and max together! that bear is a hoot--the sign said that he used to be a circus bear, so i guess that's why he does so much "performing" for the crowd!

That's a lot like the polar bear exibit at the San Diego Zoo. The bears were always sleeping at that exhibit like Lori above mentioned. At the gorilla exhibit, when my little sister was about Trixie's age, there was a momma gorilla nursing her baby sitting right up against the glass. My sister had the same expression on her face it was so cool to see it all, her and the gorilla.

LOVE THE PIC....I have a love for Polar Bears. Here in Toronto the polar bears always seem to be active when I visit our zoo.

Ben, awesome picture! You actually realize how small Trixie is, of course the comparison with the Polar Bear helps!

Eeeep!! Polar bears are the only mammals documented to have hunted humans!! I can hardly let my kids stand next to the glass. But who can blame a polar bear?

Is the polar bear facing up or down? I've got money on the question. ;)
