I had to hold back the urge to jump out of my chair and run....uh....somewhere and save a child! HAHA Has she been to gymnastics yet? If so, it shows! If not, she should! Posted by: Judy at April 22, 2005 12:11 AM

Yes, I'm going to have to say it does....but what can you do? I have one the same age, and there's no way to stop them from climbing on things. Posted by: jordansmom at April 22, 2005 09:52 AM

Your little sweetie never ceases to amaze me. Are you sure she's not older than your telling us!! She is so eager to learn how the world works, it's just great. Posted by: Jo at April 22, 2005 09:59 AM

Oh my gosh, yes!!! *I* almost fell out of *my* seat when I first looked at this picture. Ben, you have come a long way as a parent. So calm and confident. I would have rushed over without hesitation (I still feel like I should for Trixie) to pick her up so she wouldn't have the opportunity to fall. Hey, aren't kids supposed to wear helmets anyway when playing outside on their strollers? Posted by: lori at April 22, 2005 10:43 AM

Is this one of those snap/throw/rescue moments? Snap the pic, throw the camera, rescue the child. I belive my child is part monkey. He's always climbing and doing gravity defying stunts like Trixie--wonder if they're distant relations. LOL. Wouldn't you like to just wrap them in bubble wrap so they never get hurt? Yikes! Yes, as a mom, this picture makes me want to grab Trixie and deposit her in the nearest padded room. BUT, I'm so proud of Ben and Jen for not sqaushing her intrepid spirit. The more she is allowed to explore her world on her terms (with careful minding, of course) the better off she'll be. GO TRIXIE! Posted by: Michele at April 22, 2005 11:27 AM

Yeah, my first thought was "that looks like a fall waiting to happen!", but if I saw my own kid doing that, I'd probably hover but not snatch him off the stroller. Why? Because I think a parent's job isn't to keep a child from getting hurt, but to be there to make sure they don't get hurt too badly. I watched a father of a year-and-a-half old girl as he let her walk around the rim of a fountain, and realized that first, he knew and trusted her, and second, that he was right there to fish her out if she did fall in. That was years before I got pregnant, but it stuck with me. Posted by: bex at April 22, 2005 03:57 PM

But I'd probably move the stroller to the grass. Posted by: bex at April 22, 2005 03:59 PM

Ahhhh! The trick is to panic on the inside. Being the worry wart I am, I would have "calmly" rushed over and snatched her up in my arms. Posted by: Jean at April 22, 2005 04:08 PM

Okay, MY daughter Olivia would have totally fallen if she tried that. She already has scarred knees from the numerous falls that she takes because she's a clumsy runner. Posted by: Jaynee at April 22, 2005 04:24 PM

In a word, yes. Although, you have to consider that I am used to watching other people's kids. It's one thing to let your own kid risk falling on their head, but frankly, it's not good for business when you let it happen to someone else's kid. :) Posted by: becky at April 22, 2005 05:01 PM

yes! most definitely! i can see scrapes on her arm and knee (or are those temporary tattoos) still...it freaks me out. haha Posted by: elena at April 22, 2005 08:58 PM

As a matter of fact it seemed like folly of the first order. She needs to learn but an upset where she smeared her nose all over her face or broke an arm is not the way to do things. She doesn't have the judgement yet nor should she be expected to have that so removing her from the peril would seem most prudent. This one is a bother to me as I remember a similar situation where they didn't say "she didn't fall". Of course I grew up where it was 24 miles to the hosptital or nearest doctor. And an almost 2 year old in a cast doesn't look right. LOL Posted by: LOL at April 23, 2005 12:38 AM

I've got a lot of scars and things from being a kid like Trixie. Most of them are because of my older brother tho. Be glad Trixie is always be watched by a responsible adult!! I was always watched by my brother who is 6 years older than me. My first injury was when I was hardly walking. I got stitches on my forehead because my brother who thought it was a fun idea to spin me by my arms in the living room, accidently let go and flung me into the tv set. Yes childhood injuries are bad indeed but at least someone was watching her. Posted by: Nina at April 23, 2005 12:47 AM

I have to say kudos to you guys for not giving in to the SUV trend in strollers. Who needs four cup holders in a stroller anyway? Next thing you know they'll have DVD players that flip down from the top so the kiddo can watch, self propelled four weel drive and Onstar. Posted by: Lindsay M at April 24, 2005 04:35 PM

Self Propelled four wheel drive? Sounds good to me! So does the GPS. Maybe I could control it from inside my house with a little remote control. :-) Posted by: Michele at April 24, 2005 05:44 PM

i like the "SUV" type stroller. their not that bad. it helps when your baby wants to nap, and can lay flat. Posted by: at April 24, 2005 09:35 PM

Every time I use the umbrella style strollers I end up with back, shoulder and arm pain as the handles are too low for me. The regular stroller (mine really doesn't qualify as an SUV stroller) takes up more room in the trunk and takes a little more time to open and close, but at least I'm not in pain afterwards. Plus the basket DOES come in handy. Posted by: Sylv at April 24, 2005 11:50 PM
