Ahh, to be young and full of energy.

But thats not quite a dress, is it Ben?

I've noticed a trend of people in the tpod comments being focused on Trixie wearing dresses. I'm sure it's no big deal, but it kind of conveys this sense that the community is stepping in to make sure she is properly gendered. I doubt that's how Ben/Jen see it, and I assume no one else consciously thinks about it that way, but it seems kind of overt to me.

Sadly we've been without Trixie Update posts for a while, but I'm kind of curious about what Ben and Jen (and any of the other parents who keep up with Trixie) think about or reflect on with regard to gender and gender roles in their interactions with children.

Justin, I've always seen most of the dress comments as based on a joke between Ben and his sister -- who for awhile, was asking Ben to put Trixie in a dress -- particularly one she bought for her.

Speaking of Ben and his sister and Trixie in dresses, are we going to see an *official* flower girl TPOD from the wedding?

I, personnally, really like the dress-over-the-pants look. It's totally androgynous! (Not really, but it's still cool!)

Justin - nothing wrong with people commenting on how nice she looks in a dress. Point is, she's a darn cute little girl who looks great in a dress. And it seems she doesn't mind wearing dresses otherwise we might see this reaction everytime she has one on.

I think you are reading into things a bit too much.

With regard to gender, I can't imagine there's any real need to treat boys and girls differently until they are much older. Toddlers are toddlers as far as I can tell. And yes, Allie accurately described the origin of the dress issue :)

I'm curious. What is this very institutional looking, yet small and squat building?

Ray, I was wondering the same thing. There is a logo in the window beside the door. I tried zooming in, but couldn't figure out what it says.

As for the dress bit, it's a long running gag. But if we're making wardobe suggestions, I'd vote for a spacesuit -- if only for the irony.

Cool, I was just curious, and unaware of the origin of the comments. :)

Well, Rob, it's no spacesuit, but it comes pretty darn close.

Wow, for so long I've been noticing how tall Trixie seems, and in this picture, she seems so small!

Perspective is a coolio thing!

Am I the only one that gets kicked to lunarpages.com website when I click on the trixie update link? I'm missing my trixie update!

Gee, I was kind of hoping for a reappearance of the mysterious Atomic Toddler this Halloween!

I like the way she's supporting herself on the virtual rail.

The building is just part of a 1950's shopping center. It's office space and I don't actually know what's in there.

Amy: You're seeing lunarpages.com because of some bad routing data. It was supposed to resolve yesterday. I'm really surprised you could leave a comment! Are you saying you can see http://www.trixieupdate.com/tpod but not http://www.trixieupdate.com ? Sorry about the inconvenience. It should eventually clear up.

Hi Ben,
I went into my history and clicked on a tpod link from there. Even when I clicked "the trixie update" at the top of TPOD page, I went to lunarpages. I made a new link in my favorites so it seems to work as long as I don't use the link at the top of this page.
good luck!
