Looking at her taste in literature, might I recommend, as a next step, the marvelous books by Berkley Breathed such as "Goodnight Opus." Brilliant artwork, lovely story. I have every one of his books and I'm pushing 50! I read them to my niece and plan to do so with any and all furture grandchildren (God willing). Happy Thanksgiving. I'm disappointed:( no little men books... I loved those. If you don't know that's the name of the series that includes Mr. Nosey, Miss Talksalot, Mr. Sad etc. Oh Well maybe they'll show up next time. Posted by: Jess at November 24, 2005 11:20 AM

If Trixie likes Click, Clack, Moo, you should read her Vote for Duck. It's by the same author, I think, and it's a great book! Although maybe she is a little young for politics... Posted by: Ellie at November 24, 2005 04:35 PM

It is great that Trixie likes books! And great that you read them to her! But I don't see my personal favorite; "Horton Hears a Who!". Dr. Seuss understood that "A person is a person, no matter how small", and Trixie is definitely a wonderful person! Posted by: Jim at November 24, 2005 05:47 PM

I remember reading Green Eggs and Ham. I actually did make green eggs and ham in kindergarten! That was pretty fun. Have you actually read that to her, and if so, does she like it? Posted by: Sara at November 24, 2005 10:07 PM

Just imagine what it'd be like if we all just sent Trixie the books we know she'd love. Does anyone remember the panty chain letters? Where you get have to send the letter out to 10 people and send 10 pairs of panties to the girl you got it from? Worked for other things, too. We could do it with books, but only for Trixie. Hope you all had a great & safe Thanksgiving!! Posted by: Wendy at November 25, 2005 01:29 AM

Where do you store Trixie's books? Does she have her own bookshelf? Any chance we could see a photo of the entire collection? We are looking at bookshelves right now for Jonah -- one that will hold a good number of books, but won't topple over onto his head! Posted by: Jonah's Dad at November 25, 2005 11:00 AM

Wendy- we recently were part of a 'grandparents book chain letter'. the grandparent sent the letter on to other grandparents...with thier childs name and age at the bottom of the list. they then sent an age appropriate book on to the kid they removed from the top of list. so in total, each child should have 10 books sent to them from all over the country. aiden loved having books come in the mail for him!! it was so much fun.
Benmac- you should get her the 'Goops' books. Trixie is the perfect age for them. they are books about naughty children with a poem and page long story for each rude behavior. (Hatesoap is a little boy who wont take a bath, for example) They are hysterical! Posted by: aiden's momma at November 25, 2005 05:22 PM

Oh my...someone else has *Robert the Rose Horse*! We're actually on our second copy of that one for Maddie, after the first fell apart. (To the parents out there: not my highest recommendation. Simple sentences, not the most scintillating plot, but Maddie LOVED it.) I reecho the rec for *Paper Bag Princess* by Robert Munsch. Actually, Mads loves all of the Munsch books. My daughter (28 months) and I love Sheep in a Jeep, too. I found Sheep Trick or Treat at Halloween, but the others are so hard to come by. What are your favorite books to read to Trixie? PS. Kitten's First Full Moon is a beautiful book that we love too. Check it out. Posted by: Rhonda at November 26, 2005 07:44 PM

Answers to questions asked above: Trixie's recent favorites: Green Eggs and Ham is not one of her favorites. It bothers her a little. Yes, we checked out Blueberries for Sal from the library a while back and Trixie liked it. We keep most of Trixie's books in the stacked bins seen in the back of this TPOD. Oversize books go on a bookshelf in her room that is identical to this one. Trixie hasn't started reading a whole book to us yet, but she definitely memorizes certain pages of her favorites. Please note: I added links to every title to make it easy see what folks are referencing. If I linked to the wrong book, please let me know and I'll fix it. thanks- Posted by: benmac at November 27, 2005 08:12 PM

You have Sheep in a Jeep! I love that book, and so does my daughter. We also have Sheep in a Shop, Sheep Out to Eat, and Sheep on a Ship. Posted by: Jamie at November 27, 2005 11:42 PM

Weird, very weird. I saw the reference to Vote for Duck above and thought, oh, she must mean Duck for President. Then I went to see what Ben linked to, and it was indeed Vote for Duck... which looks exactly like Duck for President. I think that Cronin may have released it earlier under VfD, but if you want to buy it these days, the in-print title is Duck for President. Regardless of the name, it's great. I know Knuffle Bunny was a big hit last year. I can't remember if she also likes Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! (same author). If you haven't given it a try, DO! It's a hoot. No Maisy? Our little guy, who'll be two soon, can't get enough of Maisy. We feel like we have done everything with Maisy: cleaned up, taken a bath, made gingerbread cookies, and so on. But there is something very addicting about the illustrations for that age. Posted by: Grazyna at November 29, 2005 01:26 PM
