Love the big beautiful eyes!

I am assuming that is a GLASS glass - brave man, Mr. Ben! My boys have the grace of their father, so they probably won't see a glass glass until their twenties!

We have those glasses, and we barely use them because they're so heavy! You're brave to let a 2 year old hold it by herself.

Using heavy glasses is actually a tip that I would pass along to other parents. Trixie has been drinking out of non-sippy cups for a long time, but we were afraid to give her anything other than a plastic cup. And when using a plastic cup, she would regularly (daily) knock it over and/or spill a lot. We switched to these super heavy glasses back in November and she hasn't spilled a *single* glass since then. The change was immediate. A sturdy, weighted glass made her pay more attention when reaching for a drink. I would highly recommend these. (found at Target)

Wow, thanks! I didn't even think of it that way...my son isn't even holding his own bottle yet, let alone drink from a sippy cup yet. I'll keep this in mind!

Oh dear! Haven't you learned the first rule of parenting? You NEVER mention when something is going right! If you say: "She hasn't been sick all winter." She'll be sick by the end of the week. If you say: "Oh...she never wakes up in the middle of the night." That night, she'll be up! So...Ben...sorry to say, a spill is looming in your future! It's just Murphy's (Parenting) Law!

Our 6 year old still uses "sippy cups" and so do her friends. It's just sooooooo easy and never any spills. They all love them since each neighbor, at their homes, have cups for each child (with their names on them.....because of "germs" you know!!!! I wouldn't have it any other way and the girls think they rock with their own cups at every place site. And that's all I have to say about that.

Ben, what an ingenious idea. I will have to try it with my 21-month-old. I hope y's prediction above does not come true in this case. Maybe the Murphy's Law part will be offset by the good karma of sharing this great idea with us all?

Mommamia, I say if it works go with it! It's not like your kids don't know how to drink out of a normal glass, you are just preventing spills. When we were kids, my mom had us use those Tupperware tumblers with lids, and she cut a hole in the lid for a straw. This was in the late 70s, before you could buy stuff like that ready-made. :-)

Thanks for the tip on the heavy glass, Ben! We've tried it with Dorothy for the last couple of days, and she's definitely spilling less (although she still sometimes tilts it too far and pours milk down her shirt).
