Okay, I...what is going on here? With the guns and the rinds and the plastic nudists? I mean, it looks like a good time, but what? Posted by: Kate at June 22, 2006 01:58 AM

I feel like I am looking at some neo-modern art exhibit (or an "I Spy" book - "I spy a ball, a squirt gun and a toe, a skinned up knee and a nekkid doll having a float"). Posted by: Judy at June 22, 2006 08:33 AM

When I first saw this, I couldn't get this painting out of my head... took me awhile to find it considering I didn't remember the name of the painting, or the artist - go figure that the gallery that hangs it has it displayed online, too. http://www.artic.edu/aic/collections/amer/highlight_item?acc=1956.338&page=2 And along the way, I found: which is a group of links to most of the major art galleries in the world... who almost always have some percentage of their collection displayed online, too (ok, so I only looked at about half a dozen of them). There is still a lot of good eating on those watermelon slices! Posted by: SA at June 22, 2006 10:17 AM

Looks to me like some kind of new age spa treatment. Also, it makes a lot of sense to feed the kids watermelon in the pool so the juice washes right off. Posted by: gretchen at June 22, 2006 12:07 PM

Ahhhhh...coolin in a pool on a hot Raleigh day. Those are water squirters, watermelon boats, a free-floating babydoll without a swimsuit so she won't get a tan line.....And, most importantly, little Miss Trixie is getting to enjoy one of the more pleasant memories of childhood....being able to fit into one of those little pools, using her imagination, spending time with her family. How lovely! How blessed! Posted by: LizB. at June 22, 2006 01:13 PM

But, is that a slice of yellow squash on the watermelon? Maybe a lemon and she is fixing a lemon squirt for her Mom or Grandmom? Posted by: LizB. at June 22, 2006 01:16 PM
