The Pier
Trixie got to go down to the beach for a few days last week -- without Mom or Dad. But not entirely by herself. She went with her grandmother, and I swung down a couple of days later. She did not like the ocean, but loved the pier and watched a little boy catch a flopping fish. The old pier also had an arcade and she did a little skee-ball. Trixie is dangerous with that game. Most of the balls ended up on the other side of the room.

My oldest was about 3 when we let him go off "on his own" with the grandparents...that was quite a milestone for all of us. I don't blame Trixie one bit for not being a beach fan - that sand can get downright nasty sometimes. She seems to have a great vantage point of it from here in the picture, though! JEEZ-Louise She's just getting so grown up. Isn't it time for her to get a little sister so we can relive that? Posted by: Debi at August 14, 2006 01:20 AM

Wow. I had been away from the site for a while, and then it occurred to me this morning -- Trixie must've turned three. Where did the time go? Happy Birthday, Trixie! Posted by: ShotgunDaddy at August 14, 2006 04:06 AM

Look at how she's got her hands jammed in her pockets -- so nonchalant. Why didn't she like the ocean? Isaac dabbled in it (the Pacific, that is) for the first time last week and had a good time. Posted by: Nicole R. at August 14, 2006 06:41 AM

Looks like Trixie needs some sunglasses! Maddie *loves* the ocean. Unfortunately, we live in the Pacific Northwest, where the water is frigid. It doesn't bother her, but you should see Maddie's Dad and me wading in after her. BRRRRR. I still haven't spent a night apart from Maddie. Someday... benmac, I have a question: Did Trixie go to Myrtle Beach? Your description of the pier sounds a LOT like the pier at that beach! Posted by: Sarah at August 16, 2006 06:10 PM
