noticed the red polished toenails--
you can give a girl a boyish bike, but a
girly-girl is a girly-girl and there is just no use fighting it!

This picture cools me off about 5 degrees just looking at it!

Hey, our son has purple-painted toenails! He thinks it's really cool to have "colored toes" so I don't think that's necessarily gender-specific in this age group.

That looks just like Summerfield North's pool!!!
Hope Trixie got the floating thing!!! They usually do that at an early age. Of course, my little one was diving off the high dive at 3!!!
And, loved it!!!! I was a NERVOUS wreck!!!!

She is so cute here, I hope she wasn't too scared while you were teaching the basics of swimming.

Trixie looks so calm and relaxed here. Of course, she's always been a natural in the water.

She also looks a lot like Daddy in this picture. :)

Trixie's matching swimsuit and toe nail polish are too cute. I have a 2-year-old girl who won't let me lean her back to rinse her hair or swim and if I lean her forward, she purposely drinks the pool water. Hair washing is still a battle since she rather lean forwards making all the soap go into her eyes. My in-laws suggested a foam visor to help. If anyone has any 'how to get your kid to lean back' ideas please e-mail me at lacyweaver@hotmail.com

I know what you mean Lacy -- Jonah leans forward and then cries b/c of the water going in his face! They make a special pitcher/bucket thing that has a flexible front that molds to your child's head in order to rinse. I swear I'm buying it the next time I'm at Toys 'R Us!

Trixie has the look of "okay, I'm mostly trusting you Dad, but I'm not 100% sure of this."

Lacy, I always tell my daughter to look up at the sky, and cover her eyes with a washcloth when I rinse, or let her do it.

I know it's the fear of the water, or getting their face wet or other stuff, but I've found that goggles help a lot when it comes to baths. Then it's more fun and they know that they won't hurt their eyes. But you guys are the experts, I just babysit.

With the apparent wake around Trixie, this was more adventurous than just floating. It looks like a "hang on for your life" pose with Ben moving her around in the water.

On the bath front, our 3 year old daughter recently learned to tip her head back. Before that, I would offer her a fresh washcloth for each time I poured water over her head. She'd hold it tightly over her eyes, and I replaced it with a dry one each time to prevent soap from transferring from cloth to eyes. Finally, about 3 months ago, I convinced her to try tipping her head back and she does it almost every time. If she refuses, I start pouring and she quickly decides she will comply.
